There is speculation as to whether the film star couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are to join the ranks of Celebrity wine makers as they visited a southern French vineyard last week.
The Hollywood stars visited Chateau Val Joanis, in the Luberon region north of Aix-en-Provence. However a spokesperson for the 186ha estate said that they had no intention of buying.
Brad Pitt has already made headlines in the wine world after visiting 3 Barolo wine estates in the Piedmont region of northern Italy last year. No sales were confirmed following the visit.
Were Pitt to invest in a Barolo estate, fellow actor and friend, George Clooney, would not be far away. Clooney owns a villa on the shores of Lake Como 140km northeast of Turin. Unconfirmed reports say Pitt and Jolie would like to marry at Clooney's villa. Hopefully the couple will wed but it has been reported in the press that Angelina hurled a glass of wine over Brad recently whilst on holiday in France during a heated debate over Democrat presidential candidates!
Pitt is not the first celebrity to eye an Italian vineyard. Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall makes his own wine in Sicily and Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich recently visited Tuscany, also with an eye to acquiring an estate.
